 Two Israeli guards were killed Friday morning in a shooting attack in an industrial zone near Nitzanei Oz in the Sharon region. The two were in charge of checking Palestinians arriving from the West Bank. The two were identified as Shimon Mizrahi, 53, of Bat Hefer and Eli Wasserman, 51, of Alfei Menashe. The Al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad's military wing, and the Izz al-Din al-Qassam, Hamas' military wing, claimed shared responsibility for the shooting attack. Read more...
 The fallen Israeli soldiers were Sgt. Mattan Ovdati, 19, from Moshav Patish, Sgt. Menhash Albaniyat, 20, from Kseife, both from the Negev region, and Sgt. David Papian, 21, from Tel Aviv. Hamas reported 5 dead. A senior officer said that Hamas used tactics first seen practiced by Hizballah in the 2006 Lebanon War battles of Bint Jbeil and Maroun al-Ras.  Three Givati Brigade soldiers were killed this morning and three others injured during intense clashes with a Palestinian terror cell near the security fence in central Gaza. About 6 am soldiers manning an IDF observation post identified Palestinian gunmen approaching the security fence near Kibbutz Be'eri in an apparent attempt to infiltrate Israel. A force from Givati's Tzabar Battalion that was called to the scene entered 500 meters deep into Palestinian territory. The soldiers were killed in the ensuing exchanges of fire. Read more...
 The murdered men were Oleg Lipson, 37, and Lev Cherniak, 53 - both from Be'er Sheva. Lipson was an oleh (immigrant to Israel) from Tashkent and was married with a son. Cherniak also made Aliyah from the Former Soviet Union and left behind a wife. The victims were employed by the Israeli Dor Energy company. Read more...
 On Monday at noon, IDF troops arrived at the Rimonim checkpoint near the settlement of Kochav Hashahar in Samaria and began dismantling it. Less than five hours later, and a mere 15 kilometers (10 miles) away, a Palestinian tried to stab hitchhikers outside the settlement of Shilo. One of the intended victims shot him dead on the road.  Two people were lightly wounded today when Palestinian Authority terrorists fired two mortar shells from northern Gaza toward nearby Jewish towns. A building and an electric line were damaged in the attack as well. The shells slammed into the community of Netiv HaAsarah, just north of the Gaza region. Two people suffering from shrapnel wounds were taken to Ashkelon's Barzilai Hospital for treatment. Read more...
