Father of Three Killed
One man was killed and three moderately wounded Thursday morning when a mortar fired from northern Gaza hit a manufacturing facility of the Nirlat Group on Kibbutz Nir Oz in the western Negev.

Amnon Rosenberg, 51, was the father of 3. Another person was lightly injured by shrapnel. All were taken to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba by Magen David Adom emergency services. In a statement, Hamas took credit for the attack.

The mortar shell crashed into the kibbutz factory, claiming the life of Rosenberg, a member of the kibbutz since 1982, He is survived by a wife, Tali, and three children, Dor, Eldar and Yarden.

Five other employees sustained light-to-moderate shrapnel wounds and were evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for treatment. Several others were reported suffering from shock.

"We oversaw treatment of five people, three suffering various shrapnel injuries, one who was lightly hurt and one person suffering shock," MDA paramedic Itzik Alfasi told Ynet. "Unfortunately, we had no choice but to pronounce one man dead at the scene."

Head of the trauma center at Soroka, Dr. Gadi Shaked added the hospital was treating "four patients, one suffering serious wounds to his back, another suffering moderate shrapnel-induced chest wounds and two men suffering superficial injuries."

The Israeli Air Force responded to the attack with an airstrike but reportedly missed its intended terrorist target. A child, 4, was reported killed in the strike.

On Tuesday five people, including two foreign workers, sustained shrapnel injuries during a rocket attack on an Eshkol Regional Council community. The IDF later hit a Palestinian terrorist as he was attempting to fire another Qassam toward the western Negev region.
